South West Alloys has been Exeter's go-to alloy wheel repair workshop for over 12 years. Based in the Marsh Barton Trading Estate on Grace Road West, we are centrally located within the city's main commercial hub — minutes from the city centre, the M5 motorway junction, and all major residential areas.
We serve every part of Exeter — from the Victorian terraces of St Thomas and Mount Pleasant to the newer estates of Pinhoe and Cranbrook. Whether you drive a family hatchback through the school run or a performance car on weekend trips to Dartmoor, we have repaired thousands of wheels from vehicles just like yours.
Our workshop is a short drive from anywhere in Exeter. From the city centre, we are five minutes via Alphington Road. From Topsham, ten minutes via the A376. From Pinhoe and the M5 junction, fifteen minutes via the A379. Free parking is available directly at our unit — no meters, no restrictions.
Exeter customers benefit from our same-day turnaround on many repair types. Drop your wheels off in the morning and collect them in the afternoon. For trade customers based in Exeter — garages, bodyshops, dealers — we offer priority scheduling and trade account pricing.

View serviceExeter's compact city centre creates a perfect storm for kerb rash. Tight on-street parking around Sidwell Street, Fore Street, and the Quay means even careful drivers occasionally catch a kerb. Multi-storey car parks at Guildhall and Harlequins add further risk with their narrow bays and tight turns. Kerb rash is by far the most common repair request we receive from Exeter customers.
The city's road infrastructure also contributes to wheel damage. The heavily trafficked Exeter bypass (A30/A38) sees significant surface degradation during winter months, creating potholes that cause buckles, cracks, and rim damage. The residential streets of St Thomas, Heavitree, and Whipton — many of which have not been resurfaced for years — are particular problem areas for pothole-related damage.
Devon's wet climate is a constant factor. Exeter receives over 800mm of rainfall annually, meaning wheels are frequently exposed to standing water. Combined with winter salt spreading on the M5 corridor and major routes, any breach in the wheel's protective lacquer allows corrosion to establish rapidly. We see a marked increase in corrosion repairs between November and March each year.
Brake dust accumulation is an often-overlooked issue for Exeter commuters. Stop-start driving on congested routes — particularly the Topsham Road corridor, Pinhoe Road, and Alphington Road during peak hours — generates heavy brake dust deposits. This corrosive material bonds to wheel surfaces and, if not cleaned regularly, causes permanent pitting on unprotected alloy.
